Cultural Awareness Training

We offer Cultural Awareness Training to Government Agency's, NGO's,  Public / Private Sectors, Local Services, Community Organisations, Councils, Schools and Individuals

Cultural awareness training aims is to provide participants with the knowledge and skills to build on their capacity to work along side and support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients and co-workers within their respective working environments and local communities. 

1. Gain an understanding of why there is a gap between Indigenous and Non-Indigenous people in Australian Society
2. Develop an increased understanding of the cultural diversity amongst Indigenous people and their communities
3. Identify common key barriers experienced in the workplace when engaging, communicating and building relationships with Indigenous people, their families and communities.
4. Enhance awareness of the contributing factors impacting Indigenous people in participating in mainstream society to break the cycle of disadvantage
5. Identify characteristic local communities face with severe social, cultural and economic disadvantage that could be promoted to build greater cohesion rather than exclusion
6. Gain an awareness of appropriate protocols when working with Indigenous people and their communities to establish positive and respectful relationships. 
7. Develop an appreciation of an ancient culture that has survived for over 60,000+ years 
8. Gain an increased knowledge of how culture shapes our values, attitudes and behaviour in Aboriginal life. 
9. To improve attitudes towards Aboriginal people’s drive for Self Determination and Self Governance to Australia’s future. 
10. Gain an understanding of Aboriginal History both past and present to create a change for a better future

For all of our topics that we discuss we provide culturally effective strategies to accommodate cultural differences on how to overcome common identified barriers, we draw upon people’s skills to gain the appropriate measures to build effective working relationships between two distinctive cross cultures and provide solutions on how to interact, engage, and approach people from diverse cultural backgrounds to improve cultural competency 

Face to face

Full day (9:30am - 4:00pm) or half day training (10:00am - 1:00pm).
